Lets talk about the long commute. It is because on the way home from work today’s the highway got jammed and I arrived at home later than expected. Nothing interesting happened , partly because I didn’t see what actually happened.

Anyway , hope there wasn’t any one hurt and the traffic cleared up soon after the bus on which I was dozing on had passed. But it did made me think about the kind of things one can do while one is stuck in the traffic jams.

One can , read a book? Play games on the hand phone , which is what I did after some times. Or simply listen to the music and not try to think about what happened at work. It took nearly an hour to travel between the office and work and that is two hours together in a day.

Now that I think about it, that’s a pretty significant number isn’t it? We only have 24 hours a day and I spend 2 of them on commute. If you add the time walking from the bus stop or train station then it is nearly 3 hours! Horrible I say! No wonder Sony Walkman was a hit! Followed by iPod , of course. Not to mention the headphones , earphones , etc..

It simply means we spend a lot of time on the road to somewhere and try to compensate them by engaging in meaningful activities to convince ourselves that we are not wasting our times. If the law ever allows sex on the buses and trains , we will no doubt be having a f**king good time on them.

So to summarize my rant , try to find some activities that make your commute more meaningful because there is always a chance that you will be stuck in a traffic jam like me.
