Writers’ Journal #74 – Murder on the island resort – Part 28

“Wait a minute , there is another secret door that you have found right? , ” General Lee asked suddenly while turning to both Mrs Jamie and I.

It seemed that in the midst of all the chaos and fear , we have conveniently forgotten that the door behind the wine cabinet in the dining room is in fact , the second secret door that we have discovered in the resort. The first secret door was found behind the grandfather clock on top of the grand stairs connecting lobby to the master bedrooms on the second floor.

with the realization , everyone grabbed the flashlights and knives on the floor and rushed on to the staircase. Mrs Jamie obligingly pushed the knob on the right side as was done 2 nights ago. As expected , soft pop sound was heard coming from the clock and once again , we dived into the deep dark web of tunnels.

With multiple experience we had with the long , dark tunnels , we were much more prepared. Immediately , a few of us made large , visible markings on the walls as we slowly moved our ways. And at each turns , we would always take a left turn to ensure we would be able to find out ways back. After a few such turns , we found this tunnel to be much more extensive than the previous tunnel with multiple junctions for us to choose.

And the air also seemed to have changed its composition as we moved deeper into the tunnel. Some of had started to cough and General Lee found it difficult to breathe normally. We decided to turn back as it was apparent the situation would worsen with the depth of the tunnel.
