“Yes.” both Malee and Michael replied in one voice.

“I am sorry about what happened. My friends ..” said Malee.

“I chose to come by myself. Nothing to do with you or your friends.” said George, cutting Malee’s apology. He rose up from the sofa and walked over to the table and sat down.

“Where is the commissioner?” asked George. It seemed his memories of what happened were slowing coming back to him.

“He is at the house with Georgia. He should be back soon.” replied Michael. George nodded at that and picked up the spoon on the table and started eating from the dishes on the table.

“What are you two doing? Sit down and eat.” said George to Malee and Michael, who was standing behind him. They looked at one another and sat down and picked up the extra spoons on the table. The meal was for one person, George, but as usual, was large enough to fill several people. Malee and Michael joined in with George for the lunch and it didn’t take them too long before cleaning up the plates.

“Enough?” asked George to them as he emptied the glass of wine in front of him. Then they heard the faint sound of the garage door opening and a car coming in. It must be the commissioner coming back from the house, Malee thought. She went over to the door and opened it and the commissioner came through the door as expected, followed by Mary.
