Malee sighed. Georgia could be a really hard mistress to please, she thought to herself. If she were to survive in the employment under Georgia, she would need to use all her instincts and knowledge that she had gained from the old and new life. She took the bottle and poured the last drop of wine from the bottle into the empty cup and emptied it. There was so much she would need to learn, even after struggling years in the school and the university till she was the top student of her cohort, only to be bested by the politic.

She would need to wait for Mary to come back before going over to the house to meet with Georgia as she was instructed. She got excited as she wondered how she would have to behave to wear during the parties and didn’t notice someone coming into the kitchen.

“Where is she?” asked the man who suddenly appeared. It was George.

Upon hearing the voice, some of the servants ran down from their rooms above and cried upon seeing him after such a long time. Unlike Georgia, whose name along would made them shrunk in fear, George was universally loved by all the servants. George, in turn, recognised most of them but had to be reminded of the a few. All in all, it was a happy meeting for the new master of the house and the servants. It was a while before they left George along with Malee for her to reply.

“She went out with Mary.” said Malee.
