The car changed to the right most lane and started speeding as soon as they reached the main highway. George’s handling of the car was perfect as she had seen. It was certainly better than Michael and he had been driving his mother to the market for years. George must have been driving almost daily in overseas, Malee thought as she tried to breathe out of fear.
“You can send her the text.” said George once the car stopped at the traffic light in front the mall. Malee nodded and sent a quick and short text to Georgia about where she was and who she was with. There were no replies but Malee knew she had been heard. She put the phone back into the skirt’s side pocket as soon as the car dove into the basement car park. It was a very crowded place with Malee could see cars of various shapes and sizes going around and around the carpark looking for an empty spot.
George did not wait but kept on driving till he reached a metal barrier at the far corner of the car park. After a few moments, the barrier started to move, allowing for the car to go into the empty spot. George drove into the spot and turned off the engine. Malee was surprised at how could George know this spot since the mall was just opened for business that morning and George himself had come back from the overseas not long ago.
“Surprised?” said George. “This is the special reserved spot in all our buildings”
“Ah..” uttered Malee. She nodded and got off the car at the same time as George. The lift towards the upper floors of the mall was just in front of them.
“Go ahead. The scanner is linked to the one in the house.” said George as he looked at the finger scanner besides the lift’s door.
