“Your highness, I am Maia, your distant cousin.” said Maia. Malee noted she spoke the word “distant” louder than the rest. George walked past her towards Georgia, who was still busy looking t the dresses in front of her.
“What are you doing here?” whispered George. Mali has been just beside Georgia to overhear it, but pretended not to. Argument between the twins could only be resolved by their father or by Mary, that she learnt from the time she first encountered Georgia.
“Why? Am I not allowed?” asked Georgia back, staring at his eyes. George stared her back without backing down. Malee wished somehow Mary would appear from the crowd to diffuse the situation. Maia was looking at the twins, as if she was wondering what was going on with the two people in front of her. Then she smiled and quickly regained her composure.
“You. Don’t stand there. Get a chair and drinks for his highness.” said Maia to one of the staff, standing, whose legs Malee could see were shaking.
“It’s ok. I am leaving.” said George before going towards the back door of the shop to the staff corridor behind the shops. The front door was by then too crowded, even with the police trying to disperse the crowd. Georgia was cool as before, Malee noted.
