“I am a stand-up comedian” , I replied with a straight face.

Everyone blinked twice.

“Surely , you are not joking! Mr ..” , stammered Thomas.

“I do not joke. It is my job and I don’t do for free as and when I feel like it” , I interrupted.  “To add , I am also a trained doctor of psychology.”

“I’ll be damned” , exclaimed Thomas. “So you are both a full time doctor and a comedian? This aren’t funny!”

“Why not? Laughter is the best medicine and it is a very complex process both physically and mentally” , I lectured. “In fact , it has been known to be the best medicine for almost all ailments since the ancient times.”

“So why are you getting treated here , if laughter is as good as you said?” , Mrs Jamie interjected.

“Who says I am here to get treated?” , I asked. “I don’t remember mentioning this to anyone. You all just assumed that everyone here is a patient”

“So you are …”

“Yes. I am the doctor you all have been expecting.” , said I.

I then went on to explain to them about the resort. They all had been invited by my company to be given free treatment of various psychology disorders under restraint conditions , namely an island. They will be given free medical supervision under experienced professional , me. And in return , they will allow themselves to be observed and the data to be under the company’s ownership.

I was to be the last to arrive to the island after all the guests , or patients , have been confirmed. Then the connection to the mainland were to be cut off for 1 week.

“WHAT? 1 WEEK?” , screamed Mrs Smith. “We can’t , we… can’t be living like this. We got to leave immediately!”

“Sorry to everyone but nobody can leave this island” , I announced.
